Dr. Karani Magambo
About The Author
Experience, Membership and Academic background: Dr. Magambo has over 25 years of professional experience in Human Resource Management, Strategic Management and Organizational Development consultancy. He holds a PhD in Organizational Leadership Development, MSc in Organizational Development and Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Administration from the Pan Africa Christian University, United States International University and Moi University respectively. Additionally, he holds a Higher National Diploma in Human Resources Management and a Diploma in Security Management. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Human Resource Management of Kenya.
Appointments: Dr. Magambo serves as a board member of SEMA, a health consulting firm, and Concierge East Africa Limited, a Risk and Security firm. He has previously served in various boards including Aon Consulting Limited, Minstaff Holding Limited, Tree Side Special School under the Ministry of Education and Trust Secretary for various pension schemes. Dr Magambo is also the founder and current chairman of Deep Well Cooperative Society.
Technical capacity: Dr. Magambo is an active member of the Institute of Human Resources Management. He has contributed immensely in knowledge development through technical support, capacity building and contribution to the Institute’s journals. Further, Dr. Magambo served as Aon talent management coordinator for Sub-Saharan Africa and a technical member of Talent Management for Aon EMEA. He has published in International Journals in addition to presentations in international and local conferences in areas of human resources management, leadership and organizational development.
Career progression: Dr. Magambo started his career in 1995 at SEMA Managementasa HRjuniorconsultantwherehewasinchargeof Executive Selection and Labor outsourcing for United National Protection Force project through Care Canada. He later joined a Mauritian Consulting firm, De Chaazal De Mee (DCDM), as a management consultant before joining United States International University in 1998 has the Director of Human Resources. In May 2005, he joined Aon has Head of Human Resources for East Africa and in 2006 he was appointed HR, Corporate Affairs and Compliance Director. His interest and expertise in management consulting, saw his role expanded to that of the head of management consulting of Aon Consulting where he was the lead consultant in major assignment.
Dr. Magambo is currently he is currently a strategic and management consultant in human resources management, strategic management, organizational review, leadership development and capacity building. During his illustrious career, he has consulted for government agencies, micro finance, hospitality and manufacturing.
He is happily married with three children.
